Description
Windows Server 2025 Standard is Microsoft’s current server operating system release, for a single physical server or up to two virtual machines on one licensed host. It introduces hotpatching — installing security updates without rebooting, via Azure Arc — and GPU partitioning for standalone servers, both new to the Standard edition in 2025.
This license covers all physical cores on your server, on a fully licensed 16-core host at minimum, matching the per-core licensing model used since Windows Server 2016. Client Access Licenses (CALs) are required separately for every user or device connecting to the server.
